Patrick Geary’s writing draws on experiences from a wide range of jobs, studies, and hobbies. Currently an air traffic controller at Chicago Center in Aurora, Illinois, in the past he has worked as a private investigator, a beer guy at Chicago area sports stadiums, a warehouse manager, and a medical laser repair technician. His interests are even more eclectic: he’s been the lead singer of a heavy metal band, a classic country and bluegrass enthusiast, a devoted student of history, geography, and politics. He enjoys playing basketball, boxing, and learning Krav Maga, a unique form of martial arts and self-defense. His favorite books are the classics, most notably anything by Tolstoy, Steinbeck, or Orwell. Although he doesn’t watch much television or movies, his favorite program was the unfortunately-cancelled series, Jericho. He dreams of one day writing crossword puzzles and loves the daily patternless. He is a collector of license plates and basketball jerseys. Other hobbies include gardening, rock climbing, hiking, and following professional basketball. He is convinced that someday his beloved Detroit Pistons will win their fourth championship…though it may be a while.
But more than anything, Patrick Geary is a man devoted to God and family. A member of Christ Church of Oak Brook, he is most thankful for the day he turned his life around by accepting Jesus into his heart. He was baptized at age 28, a few months before the birth of his first son. Patrick is dedicated to his wife and best friend, Michelle, and they have three wonderful sons, Mason, Marshall, and Deacon. A lifelong resident of Illinois (with a brief stint in Oklahoma), and a graduate of Western Illinois University, Patrick and his family currently reside in the Chicago suburb of Downers Grove.
